Statement Congratulating President-Elect C. Cybele Raver as 17th President
On behalf of the faculty of the University of Michigan, the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs (SACUA) congratulates Dr. C. Cybele Raver on her selection as our 17th president and welcomes her to the UM community. Dr. Raver’s experience and accomplishments, both as a scholar and as an administrator, are impressive and serve as excellent background for the role. As a professor of psychology, she conducted groundbreaking research with real-world impact on early childhood education, with a focus on social-emotional development of children from lower-income families. Dr. Raver has also served as Vice Provost at New York University, and most recently as Vice Chancellor and Provost at Vanderbilt University, where she oversaw significant growth in the university’s research activity.
We thank our Regents for overseeing the presidential search process and for selecting a leader with an exceptional record both as an academic and university administrator. We also thank the members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee for their time, effort, and diligence in evaluating candidates.
Dr. Raver, we look forward to welcoming you in the coming months. We are encouraged by your commitment to working alongside our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and are eager to collaborate with you in advancing the university’s collective mission.
